Huron Valley ALF, AFL-CIO
Mission & Vision
The Huron Valley Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO, exists to improve the lives of working families and build collective power across Washtenaw, Livingston, Jackson, and Hillsdale Counties. We fight for economic justice in the workplace and social justice in our communities – because we believe that working people should lead in shaping a just, democratic, and equitable future.
We are living through a high-stakes moment. Corporate elites and far-right extremists are working together to roll back worker rights, undermine democracy, and divide our communities. But across Southeast Michigan, workers are organizing. At HVALF, we bring together over 21,000 union members and dozens of local unions to fight back through strikes, campaigns, political action, and direct solidarity.
Our vision is a multiracial, democratic labor movement rooted in solidarity, popular participation, and collective action. We believe that mass participation, not just strong leaders at the top, is what transforms our workplaces, our region, and our political economy.
As part of the national AFL-CIO, we share its broader commitment to liberty, justice, and community, and we join with all who stand for democracy and the cause of solidarity.
